ElderHelp processes and delivers firewood at no cost to low-income seniors, helping them stay warm and safe through the winter months. We’re looking for volunteers to join our firewood team to buck up, split, stack, and cover firewood so it can season properly, as well as deliver seasoned firewood directly to the homes of qualified seniors.

This project takes place at 2570 W Highway 53, Rathdrum — directly across from Wilkinson Road. Look for the ElderHelp sign. We are signing up for 5 volunteers for a half day and we are flexible: morning, afternoon or any number of volunteers 1-5 would be awesome! We use Day of Caring for our annual deep clean. We will have several our staff or board members to help the Deep Clean effort on this day!

Cleaning priority list:


Clean all floor surfaces to the walls
-Vacuum play area, including move all kids furniture to vacuum under.
-Shampoo the carpet, we will you rent a carpet cleaner for the day
-Vacuum and then wash all the brick floor in hallway (move stools under bar and tiny table/log bench etc. along hallways to clean the
floor along the walls)
-Vacuum and then wash the floor in the community area with lending library. Pull all the furniture to one side (don't block the bridge hallway) to clean and then pull it all to the other side to vacuum and wash under everything and along the edges
-Art studio floor - clean all the way to the edges, vacuum and wash, In the past we have sprayed cleaner, let soak and then scraped all the paint off
-Wash all the big windows on inside. Also wash the windows of the toy store on the hallway side of window

Art Studio:
-Wash paint off counters, sink, and wash the front of the art studio
cabinets

Play Area:
-Wet rag with a little cleaner wash every place in the play area where kids put their hands. For example the yellow bus can get very grungy
-Wash bar where parents can sit

Photograph the event, including candid moments, posed shots, décor, speakers, and community interactions.

Coordinate with UWNI staff to ensure key moments are captured.

Deliver edited or high-quality images within one week after the event.

Skills & Requirements:

Some experience with photography (DSLR or mirrorless camera experience preferred).

To make sure you have the best experience possible, here are a few things to know about volunteering at Kootenai Health:

Volunteers are important representatives of Kootenai Health. We are looking for people who share our commitment to providing kind, compassionate care to everyone.Most of our volunteer needs are Monday through Friday during normal work hours.To create consistency for our patients and staff, we ask volunteers to commit to serving for a minimum of six-months with 100 hours of service during that time. Most volunteers are here four hours per week, but we can always be flexible to accommodate your life!
