The Shelter Resident Transition Service Associates help shelter residents create personalized plans to overcome roadblocks and transition to sustainable housing solutions. They play a critical role in reducing disaster-caused displacement and aiding in long-term recovery for individuals.

This is a shared position so flexibility is available for individual schedules.  The managers are responsible to supervise and/or train volunteers in the use of firewood log splitters, proper stacking and covering of processed wood.  Training is available for those who would like to assist in this function.  While this is a basic operation, safety is mandatory as machines are in motion and flammable fuels are utilized.

This schedule is intended to be from 9:00-12:00 (earlier in the summer hot days).  Saturdays over holidays will not be included.

UWNI's ALICE Task Force is a group of influencers in our community who exchange resources and connections that help our ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population. If you are interested in joining this task force to learn, participate, or present, let us know.

Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to take cancer patients to and from medical appointments—whenever it fits their schedule. Drive once a month or once a day, Monday through Friday! You choose when and where you drive, serving patients across Spokane, surrounding areas, and Northern Idaho.

Why do patients need rides?  Many patients struggle to get to their appointments because they: lack transportation resources, don’t have family nearby or family members are working, don’t feel well enough to drive themselves, or are required by providers to have alternate transportation.

We need you!  We receive between 300-400 one-way ride requests each month with only close to 80 active volunteer drivers and they are driving to over 15 different cancer-related medical facilities each month.

Requirements to become a volunteer:

·         Must be at least 21 years old to drive.

·         Must have a reliable vehicle and carry car insurance

·         Must pass a background check and have a clean driving record.

·         Must have a cell phone.

Looking for adults who have experience caring for children, to come to our Day Center in CDA and provide childcare for our families so the parents can attend parenting classes.

UWNI, located in beautiful downtown Coeur d'Alene, needs a happy, positive go-getter to help with in-office volunteering. We have a small office and a busy staff, meaning office upkeep can fall back on the to-do list.

We are looking for a volunteer to join the North Idaho Early Learning Collaborative community. Opportunities for this volunteer would include setting up tables, chairs, and serving food for families, checking families in, and assisting with on-site childcare.

Volunteers responding to this post should be prepared to work with children and families in their communities with a positive and patient attitude. The NIELC works toward supporting young children and families at these free workshops, providing learning materials, parenting classes, and behavior support.

Community-based mentoring relationships involve one-to-one outings and activities, doing things the Big and Little enjoy together. Each match is unique and develops a schedule that works for them. Bigs and Littles spend 2-4 hours, 2-4 times a month with each other for at least 18 months!

Clean all floor surfaces to the walls
-vacuum play area, including move all kids furniture to vacuum under. -Shampoo the carpet, we will you rent a carpet cleaner for the day

-Vacuum and then wash all the brick floor in hallway (move stools under bar and tiny table/log bench etc. along hallways to clean the floor along the walls)
-Vacuum and then wash the floor in the community area with lending library. Pull all the furniture to one side (don't block the bridge hallway) to clean and then pull it all to the other side to vacuum and wash under everything and along the edges
-Art studio floor - clean all the way to the edges, vacuum and wash, In the past we have sprayed cleaner, let soak and then scraped all the paint off
-Wash all the big windows on inside. Also wash the windows of the toy store on the hallway side of window

Twice a year we like to get all the carpets and rugs cleaned! 

We could use help doing a more thorough cleaning of the interior and exterior of the school, ex. Cleaning outdoor toys, managing the garden, shoveling snow, cleaning walls, etc. 

We would love to have donations of diapers,  baby wipes, craft supplies, coats and winter gear, and toys. 

Teachers have a lot of work to do and prepping is usually done in their off time to meet the children’s needs. We can use help prepping supplies for activities that are pre-planned. 

Once in awhile we need help taking a load or so to the transfer station. 

Community volunteers help OEM support emergency and disaster response in our county.  They help educate our community about preparedness at tabling events, serve as role players in drills and exercises, provide emergency communications (ham radio volunteers), support the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) program in Kootenai County and more!

Volunteer Role: Thrift Store Operations Assistant
Location: Various store locations in North Idaho
Hours: Flexible shifts available Monday–Saturday between 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Commitment: One-time, weekly, or monthly opportunities

What You'll Do:

Sort and organize donated clothing, home goods, and household items

Assist customers with finding what they need and provide a welcoming environment

Help create clean and attractive displays on the sales floor

Support our mission by ensuring quality merchandise is ready for sale

We’re seeking a dedicated and organized individual who is enthusiastic about making a difference through clothing sorting and baling. If you have an eye for detail, enjoy working behind the scenes, and are passionate about sustainability, this role is perfect for you.

Our Community/Public Service can only be completed at the Boise or Post Falls Warehouse, not at any store location.

Our court-ordered community service program operates out of our warehouse in Post Falls at 6240 E Commerce Loop.

Our program runs Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 5pm. We offer two start times: 8:30am and 1pm.

At Hand in Hand Family Mentorship, we believe that one caring relationship can change everything. We’re looking for everyday people across Idaho who are willing to show up, listen, and walk beside someone who’s struggling. You don’t have to be a professional-you just have to care. As a mentor, you’ll offer support and encouragement to individuals working to rebuild their lives and families. This is a meaningful, flexible opportunity that fits into your life-a text here, a coffee there, an invitation to a family BBQ. We provide training and walk with you every step of the way. Join our growing team of mentors across Idaho and be a steady reminder that hope is still real.

Join us in the office from 9-12 or from 12-3 on a weekday of your choice. You'll help us welcome guests, verify resources, and find support for our clients unique set of needs.

As an adult volunteer (age 18+), you will have the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of patients and families during their visit to Kootenai Health. Our volunteers currently contribute in a variety of service areas.
