Who We Are

The mission of Bonner Homeless Transitions is to end the threat of homelessness — one person, one family and one life at a time. At Bonner Homeless Transitions, our mission is to ensure that individuals and families in need have access to the critical resources and compassionate support that foster stability, self-sufficiency, and long-term housing solutions. Our work goes beyond providing shelter—we walk alongside each person, empowering them with the tools and confidence to build an independent and fulfilling life. We serve those experiencing like homelessness, domestic violence, or trafficking—providing safe housing, case management and life-skills empowering people to rebuild lives. Bonner Homeless Transitions provides safe transitional housing and supportive services promoting self-sufficiency and stability for homeless families in Bonner County. Founded in 1991, BHT operates three transitional housing facilities offering up to two years of housing and comprehensive case management.

What We Do

Beyond shelter, we walk alongside each individual through the challenges they face. With childcare, employment services and training, counseling, and drug testing—all overseen by a compassionate case worker—our participants are never alone in their journey. Today, 63 children, women, and men are finding stability and hope through our program, and many more wait for the chance to begin their own path forward. As the only homeless recovery program in Bonner County—a county marked by historically low incomes and high housing costs—the need in our community is profound. We are working tirelessly to expand our program so that we can meet the extensive and growing demand for housing and supportive services. Without adequate support and education, individuals and families experiencing homelessness face devastating consequences: compromised physical and mental health, children falling behind in school, and in the most heartbreaking cases, family separation. Children are especially vulnerable, enduring increased risks of health challenges, educational disruptions, and emotional struggles that can affect them for a lifetime. That is why the work of Bonner Homeless Transitions is so critical. With greater support, we can provide not only housing, but also stability, healing, and hope—helping families stay together and giving children the chance to grow, learn, and thrive.
