Description

One-day Adventure on an Iconic North Idaho Trail Surrounded by Stunning Rock Formations for National Public Lands Day!

On National Public Lands Day, we’ll work on this scenic trail that heads up to Chimney Rock on the Selkirk Mountains crest. Enjoy this picturesque area with stunning views of the unique rock formations that make up Chimney Rock, a rock climbers mecca. The bottom parts of the trail always need lots of brushing and the upper parts will need to have logs removed and tread rebuilt. Fall colors should be great and if it’s hot, there is some great swimming in the Pack River. A great way to end the trail project season in northern Idaho.   National Public Lands Day is the country’s largest single-day volunteer event for public lands, taking place every year on the fourth Saturday in September. Since its inception in 1994, NPLD has brought together hundreds of thousands of volunteers to help restore and preserve America’s public lands. Join us for one of ITA’s many statewide projects to celebrate this day!
